Introducing A Sexy New Way To RSVP For UNIV-101

Greetings from Australia, where we’re sixteen hours in the future from Philly! Stephen here. Today I’d like to introduce you to a brand-new TicketLeap event page. And yes, it’s sexy.

I’m thrilled to announce that TechServ is a part of TicketLeap’s new event page preview. So what does this mean? For UNIV-101 students, it’s means RSVPing for a meeting has an entirely new look and feel.

Home

The new page look very different, but navigating it should now be much easier. The first tab is the Home tab, which is like a summary of the event.

About

The About tab is exactly what its name suggests: information about the event.

Map

The Map tab should be especially useful for first-timers. While there was a map in the past, it’s now stupidly obvious on how to get to TechServ (for the most part; we can’t do anything about the MacAlister basement being called the Ground Floor.)

Tickets

Now for the part you probably actually care about: tickets. Click the Tickets tab and select the “performance” (read: meeting) you want to attend.

Get Ticket

Just like before, select 1 ticket. However, now, instead of going to the Checkout page, you’ll need to click Add To Cart. Turns out TicketLeap introduced a Shopping Cart at some point that I completely missed the memo for (whoops! Note to self: check account options more often.) That said, you can now cue up tickets for multiple meetings in one go. No need to checkout for every single meeting.

Cart

When you’ve finished signing up for tickets like there’s no tomorrow, click the Checkout button.

Checkout

The checkout page should be the same as before. To remove a ticket, change the quantity to 0, then click Update Quantities.

Cal

One thing that has not changed (yet) is the event calendar. It may get updated at a later time, but for now, it’s still on the old design. Nonetheless, it should have the same info as the new event page does.

If you have any issues with the new event page, please let us know so we can notify TicketLeap. It is still in beta and there are a few known issues (mainly on the admin side of things).

Enjoy the sexy new page!

UNIV-101 Students, Sign Up For Meetings Now!

Hey there UNIV-101 students! We’re excited to kick off a new academic year with weekly meetings held this term on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6p to 8p. However, we operate a bit differently than some other UNIV-101 opportunities you may have seen. If you haven’t already, make sure you read our page on UNIV-101 info. And we mean read it in full.

If you must insist on a tl;dr edition, please be aware that if you want UNIV-101 credit for TechServ, you cannot simply show up to a meeting. Last year, we implemented a policy that restricts the number of UNIV-101 students per meeting to four and you must reserve a spot. This is for a couple reasons: 1) we just don’t have the space in our workshop, 2) this helps ensure all UNIV-101 students have something to do, and 3) at TechServ, safety is one of those things we simply “care” about. To reserve a spot, you must “purchase” a ticket through TicketLeap, who we’ve chosen as our reservation system. Now, while we do say “purchase”, tickets are free. Since TicketLeap’s primary business is to sell tickets, they use the word Purchase on their site.

Once you have reserved a ticket, come to the meeting with your ticket. You can either print it, or add it to Passbook in iOS (or for you droids, show it on your phone). We scan all tickets at the door. If you do not have a ticket (and that means a valid ticket), we will not honor your UNIV-101 minutes for the meeting. For the full terms and conditions, read the UNIV-101 info page in full. We generally do not give exceptions.

To reserve your tickets, click the stupid huge button below.

Upcoming Meetings with UNIV-101 Availability

Hello there UNIV-101 students. We’ve recently had a few meetings open back up for UNIV-101 hours. The following meetings are available as of 4:23 PM EDT 14 April:

  • April 15 – One opening
  • April 22 – One opening
  • April 29 – One opening
  • May 13 – Two openings
  • May 15 and 20 – Fully open

Given how fast you lot appear to be at booking slots, please check with TicketLeap to confirm openings. April 15 especially is expected to be filled by the end of today (April 15).

Also, some reminders on policy (or for those of you just joining us, the short version):

  • If you cannot attend a meeting, you must notify us prior to the meeting. If you do not, we will email you asking you for an explanation. If you do not respond, you will loose all of your future bookings. There are zero exceptions to this policy.
  • You may book one – and only one – ticket per meeting.
  • If you wish to attend a meeting for UNIV-101 credit, you must sign up on TicketLeap. Simply joining CollegiateLink does not qualify you for UNIV-101 credit.
  • You are expected to bring your ticket to the meeting you wish to attend. Your ticket can be printed, saved to your mobile device, or added to Passbook. Please have your ticket ready for scanning at the door (this means not buried in your email somewhere).
  • As a reminder, your tickets are not attached to your confirmation email. You are only provided with a link to print them.
  • In the extremely rare event that there is an opening for a meeting at meeting time, you may register at the door, but you are strongly encouraged to pre-register.
