Thank you for considering donating to TechServ. Equipment donations are accepted on an ongoing basis. Donation guidelines are listed below, and are updated depending on our current projects. If you want to donate to TechServ, just email techserv@drexel.edu with a description of the equipment, quantities, and your preferred pickup/drop-off time.
There are no forms to fill out if you are a Drexel department, but we do fill out a short donation receipt upon receiving the equipment.
Sensitive Data Policy:
All incoming systems have their hard drives erased in accordance with the Department of Defense (DoD) DOD 5220.22-M standard, so that no content can be recovered.
TechServ uses a software called DBAN on EVERY system we receive. The program implements a Department of Defense standard for wiping drives, thereby hindering all known techniques for hard disk forensic analysis.
If you are not satisfied with TechServ DBAN-ing your systems, you can download the program yourself here.
We would greatly appreciate the wiping of the drives rather than their destruction, as we have zero funding to buy new drives for the systems we receive.
General Guidelines:
Below are the current donation guidelines as of 2/21/2023:
In particular, we are in need of:
- Desktop PCs
- Laptops
- Monitors w/ HDMI or DisplayPort
- All-In-One PCs
However, at all times, we will accept desktops, laptops, monitors, and related peripherals.
Note: If you have other electronics that may not match the criteria that we have listed above, we can still take it in and find a group that can use it or properly recycle it.
It is the sole responsibility of the donor to determine the value of a contributed item; TechServ is unable to assign a value to the donated item(s).
Minimum Specifications:
We are currently accepting computers with the specifications listed below. Most computers from within the last 5-10 years will meet these requirements. If you are unsure if your systems meet these requirements, feel free to contact us, and we will let you know. We will also come by to pick up any donations that are on or near Drexel University’s City Campus.
