Drexel Places 2nd at National Chess Congress

On Thanksgiving weekend, nine players from the Drexel Chess Club competed in the 46th Annual National Chess Congress. Though the competition was fierce, the club finished second among student and alumni teams with a score of 19 points, led by Connor’s score of 5.5/6, which won first place in the U1200 section.

In addition, Brian and Nathania tied for second in the mixed doubles. Brian scored 5/6 in the U1400 section, while Nathania scored 4/6 in the U1200 section, for a combined score of 9.

Finally, Brian, Kayode, Josh, and Kent participated in the blitz tournament on Saturday night. Brian won the prize for best Unrated player with a score of 4, and Josh scored 4 points as well.
