The Drexel IEEE Graduate Forum (DIG Forum) is the graduate student body of IEEE, the largest technical professional society, at Drexel University. As a graduate student organization, the objectives and purposes are focused towards the interests of the graduate student community at the departments supporting the Forum at Drexel.
The objectives and purposes of The Forum are:
- To promote the application of fundamental theory and practice of electrical, electronics, biomedical and computer engineering as well as computer science and information systems amongst the Drexel graduate engineering students for the advancement and benefit of mankind
- To expose Drexel graduate engineering students to the latest in technology, research and knowledge
- To network and build relationships between industry and Drexel graduate engineering students
- To instrument creativity, innovation and values with the professional experience of IEEE and their resources
- To build a strong network of engineers within Philadelphia
- Encourage Drexel graduate engineering students to be more involved with technical and technological innovations while also focusing on the soft skills

IEEE, an association dedicated to advancing innovation and technological excellence for the benefit of humanity. The IEEE was founded in 1963 by the merger of the Institute of Radio Engineers and the American Institute of Electrical Engineers. It is the world’s largest technical professional society. It is the world’s largest association of technical professionals with 430,000 members in about 160 countries.
The DIG Forum was founded by a group of IEEE volunteer graduate students in the Fall of 2006 in collaboration with the IEEE University Partnership Project. From its inception, Dr. Afshin Daryoush has been serving as the faculity advisor for the Forum while Mr. Jay Bhatt has been a mentor and intermediary for the IEEE UPP.
